Gili Trawangan is the largest and most popular of the three Gili Islands, thanks to its well-established infrastructure that preceded the other two smaller islands in the group: Gili Meno and Gili Air.
Therefore, Gili Trawangan is perfect as your first ‘starting point’ in your Gili Islands trip. Gili Trawangan is where you can enjoy most of the action. It has a wider range of facilities compared to the other two islands, with a good mixture of hotels, bars and restaurants catering to different preferences and styles.
The main coast near the harbour offers a vibrant nightlife, while on the more secluded western shore you will find more peace and tranquility for couples and honeymooners.
Getting from Bali to Gili Trawangan is easy with Asia Ferries. Simply use the search box at the top of this page and type Bali, now it will show available ferry ports in Bali with routes to Gili Trawangan. The shortest crossing duration is from Amed beach (North East Bali) with only 1 hour and 15 minutes. Note: In case you are staying in South Bali, we do not advise choosing Amed as a departure point because getting from South Bali to Amed will take around 3 hours by car.
If you are staying in one of the popular tourist destinations in the South of Bali we suggest choosing Padang Bai, Sanur or Serangan as a departure point for your trip to the Gili Islands. The sailing duration for ferries from Padang Bai harbour to Gili Trawangan is approx 2 hours, depending on weather and sea conditions. Most ferries have multiple departures a day from both Bali and the Gili Islands.
